This past weekend I completed my certification in the Webster technique.
"The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nerve system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments. This in turn reduces torsion in the uterus, a cause of intra-uterine constraint of the baby and allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth."
Chiropractic care reduces interference to the nervous system which is the communication system from the brain to the rest of the body. Doctors of Chiropractic (D.C.) work to correct spinal, pelvic, and cranial subluxations (misalignments). These misalignments can alter the normal functioning of body systems and can also create imbalance to the surrounding muscle and ligamentous tissue.
Misalignments to the sacral area can cause tightening of the pelvic muscles and ligaments and can create torsion and a tension effect on the uterus. This can have a constraining effect on the uterus and can hinder the baby from optimally positioning his/herself into the best position prior to birth. (At no time should this technique be interpreted as an obstetric, "breech turning" technique.)
"It is strongly recommended by the ICPA (International Chiropractic pediatric Association) instructors of this technique that this specific analysis and adjustment of the sacrum be used throughout pregnancy, to detect imbalance and optimize pelvic biomechanics in preparation for safer, easier births. Because of the effect the chiropractic adjustment has on all body functions by reducing nerve system stress, pregnant mothers should have their spines checked regularly throughout pregnancy, optimizing health benefits for both the mother and baby."
If you know any woman that is pregnant right now, it is imperative that they come in for a check up to see if they can benefit from chiropractic care and this technique. I am offering complimentary consultations and exams for any pregnant women, both existing patients and new practice members.
Please share this information with your friends and family. You could end up helping them out tremendously by avoiding an unwanted procedure.

P.S. On a personal note, I really wish that I knew this information prior to my wife delivering our daughter last December. I could have really helped make her experience much more comfortable.
